The seasons of the Periodic Table

Having learned to incorporate the conservative values of consistency and dependability, Developmental Objects? during autumn phases of The Pattern become a little more stodgy than the summers out of which they have grown.

Manifestions of Autumn: characters, covenants, skills and traits

Autumn characters are showing signs of conservatism and are slow to consider change. Autumn souls are sure they are right. Autumn bodies tend to conserve their strength. And autumn minds are slow to consider new ideas.

Many members of covenants with autumn CreedHolds?, ChapelHolds? or RectorHolds? believe the oaths, liturgies or systems of governance are probably about as good as they can get and see little value in listening to suggestions from younger members.

Autumn skills often preserve resources while following traditions and older styles. Autumn traits are confident.

Autumn Covenants are associated with two eco-relations:

Seasons of the Periods

There are four autumns in the final two periods (the Institutional Balance and the Interindividual Balance) of the periodic table:

  • The first and second autumns are very internal and non-public in their growing conservatism
    • The first is interally political
    • The second is privately selfsatisfied
  • The third and fourth summers are very open and public in their desire to reap the benefits of past labors
    • The third is very political
    • The fourth is very public in proclaiming its success in its own terms

There are two autumns in the middle two periods (the Imperial Balance and the Interpersonal Balance) of the periodic table:

  • The first is a very political attempt to capitalize maximally on the advantages of the most recent changes and express them in terms those who have not yet accepted them will understand
  • The second autumn is public like the first, but more willing to express its fruits in its own terms

There is one autumn in the early two periods (the Incorporative Balance and the Impulsive Balance) of the periodic table:

  • A very public capitalization on the changes which have been adopted

The only element in the Prenatal Balance is both a spring and an autumn element because the -1 period does not have a clear meaning for season.
